Don Perico wins Santa Anita feature

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) - Don Perico led gate-to-wire to win the $59,750 Black Rock Purse for California-breds at Santa Anita on Thursday, ending a six-race skid.

Ridden by Joel Rosario, Don Perico ran 6 1-2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:12.92 to win by a half-length. The 5-year-old gelding paid $18.40, $9.60 and $6.20 at 8-1 odds

Starspangled Heat returned $8.80 and $6.40, while Husband's Folly was another half-length back in third and paid $5.60 to show.

The victory, worth $34,800, increased Don Perico's career earnings to $78,080, with two wins in nine starts.
