SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. has been cleared to ride in Saturday's Alabama Stakes after injuring his ankle when he was thrown from his mount in the starting gate at Saratoga Race Course.

Ortiz was aboard Corinzia about to start the third race Friday when he was thrown. He was taken to a hospital for X-rays and an evaluation, which determined he could ride.

The 20-year-old jockey is set to ride second-favorite Questing in the $600,000 Alabama Stakes for 3-year-old fillies.
