LISBON, Portugal (AP) - Olympic triple jump champion Nelson Evora of Portugal has fractured his shinbone for the second time in two years and won't defend his title in London.

Evora said in a statement on Thursday he won't recover in time for the games.

The 27-year-old former world champion collapsed in pain during warmups for a field event in Lisbon on Wednesday and was rushed to hospital.

He had surgery on the same shin two years ago, sidelining him for more than a year.

Evora, a surprise winner at the 2007 world championships, won the triple jump gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
