NEW YORK (AP) - Bernard Lagat will try to make history at the 105th Millrose Games - just not in the Wanamaker Mile.

The American will attempt to regain his American indoor record in the 5,000 meters Saturday. Lagat has won Millrose's signature event, the mile, a record eight times.

Millrose is moving uptown to the Armory after nearly a century at different versions of Madison Square Garden. Other American stars scheduled to compete include 1,500 world champion Jenny Simpson, who will race the first Wanamaker Metric Mile for Women; five-time world outdoor gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross in the 400; high jump world champion Jesse Williams; and 2008 Olympic 400 gold medalist LaShawn Merritt, who will run the 500.

Galen Rupp set the American indoor record in the 5,000 of 13 minutes, 11.44 seconds last Feb. 19.
