World champ Savinova wins at Moscow Challenge meet |


MOSCOW (AP) - World champion Mariya Savinova won the women's 800-meter race at the Moscow Challenge on Monday in her first appearance at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium in a decade.
The Russian finished in 1 minute, 57.93 seconds.
The meet was a test event before the world championships at the stadium next year. The last time the stadium hosted a major track and field event was a Grand Prix final in 1998.
Tameka Williams of St. Kitts and Nevis won the women's 100 in 11.19 seconds, while Cornelius Kangogo finished in 7 minutes, 59.89 seconds to lead the Kenyan sweep in the men's 3,000 meters.
Russia's Svetlana Shkolina won the women's high jump, and Przemyslaw Czerwinski won the men's pole vault.
Pavel Trenikhin of Russia won the men's 400 in 45.51 seconds.
