Still going up Dragila breaks pole vault record again

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) -- One week after raising her indoor world record by an inch in the women's pole vault, Stacy Dragila broke the mark again Friday night, clearing 15 feet, 3 1/4 inches. Dragila, the gold medalist in the Sydney Olympics, set the record as an unattached competitor during a dual meet between Montana State and Idaho State, where she is an assistant coach. It was the 10th time the 29-year-old star has set a record in the women's event, which has been recognized since 1994. Last week, Dragila cleared 15-2 1/4 at the Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden, matching her outdoor world record. Dragila was scheduled to compete this weekend in the L.A. Invitational at the Staples Center, but the event was canceled after a disagreement between organizers and sponsors. "I was disappointed not to go to Los Angeles, but it's nice to break the record in my own turf," Dragila said. "It was a relaxed situation. I was only jumping against myself." She said her latest record felt more like practice. "I love the pressure and the competition, but sometimes it's nice to relax and be at home," Dragila said. "It's kind of funny that I did it here with none of my competitors pushing me."
