SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Jon Garland eased some concerns with five strong innings and Carlos Lee had two hits and drove in two runs as the Chicago White Sox posted a 5-2 Cactus League triumph over the San Francisco Giants. Garland allowed a run and three hits, did not walk a batter and struck out five. He had struggled this spring, his first as a prominent member of the rotation. Magglio Ordonez scored twice for Chicago, which managed just six hits. Reliever Jay Witasick was tagged for four runs and four hits in two innings but Robb Nen and Felix Rodriguez tosses a hitless inning apiece. Reggie Sanders and Juan Melo drove in runs for the Giants, who had only seven hits. |
