KISSIMMEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Lance Berkman belted a grand slam and Dave Mlicki helped make it stand up as the Houston Astros edged the Cleveland Indians, 5-4, in exhibition action. Berkman hit his fourth homer of the spring off Lance Berkman in the third inning, giving Houston a 5-1 lead. It was his only hit in three at-bats. Mlicki pitched 5 2/3 solid innings, giving up just one run and two hits with three walks and four strikeouts for his third win in four decisions. Billy Wagner surrendered a three-run homer to Eddie Perez in the top of the ninth inning but held on for the Astros. Craig Biggio had two hits and scored twice for Houston. Jim Thome hit a solo homer -- his third of the spring -- for the Indians. |
