PORT CHARLOTTE, Florida (Ticker) -- Carlos Baerga continued to enchance his chances at garnering a roster spot as he belted a two-run homer to lead the Boston Red Sox to an 11-8 Grapefruit League victory over the Texas Rangers.

Out of baseball last season, Baerga is attempting to make the Red Sox in a utility role. The three-time All-Star belted his first spring homer in the eighth and is batting .400 (18-for-45) in 22 games.

Nomar Garciaparra and Manny Ramirez each added two hits and a pair of RBI for the Red Sox, who scored eight times in the first four innings.

Red Sox starter Rolando Arrojo got the win, despite allowing three runs and three hits in three innings.

Michael Young smacked a two-run homer and Alex Rodriguez a solo shot for the Rangers. Highly touted rookie Hank Blalock also knocked in two runs for Texas.

Texas starter Chris Michalak surrendered four runs and seven hits in three innings.
