BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) -- Fueled by a record-setting 3-point barrage, top-seeded Vermont rolled past second-seeded Maine, 77-50, Saturday to win the America East title and an automatic NCAA tournament bid.

The title was the Catamounts' first since 1994.

Vermont (25-5) hit its first seven field goal attempts, five of them from 3-point range, for a 19-5 lead after four minutes. The Catamounts finished the half with an 18-2 run for a 45-20 lead.

For the half, Vermont shot 56 percent from the floor, including nine of 15 3-pointers, and outrebounded Maine, 23-8.

Maine started the second half with a 15-5 spurt to cut the deficit to 50-35, but got no closer.

Vermont finished with 12 3-pointers, a record for the tournament, in 23 attempts.

Karalyn Church topped five Catamounts in double figures with 16 points.

Jamie Cassidy led Maine (20-10) with 19 points.
