CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Nuria Forns made two free throws with one second left to lift fifth-seeded Clemson past No. 12 Chattanooga in a first-round Mideast Region NCAA Tournament matchup.

Clemson (21-9) advanced to the second round, where it will meet Xavier on Sunday.

Damita Bullock made two free throws to give Chattanooga (24-7) its last lead at 47-46 with 1:35 to go. Forns answered with a 3-pointer for a 49-47 lead before Bullock tied it with 59 seconds left.

Bullock missed a potential go-ahead basket with two seconds to go and Forns secured the rebound as she was fouled by Tishay Lewis. Forns calmly made both foul shots to secure the win.

Forns finished with 16 points and Erin Batth added 11 and 14 rebounds for Clemson, which prevailed despite 34.5 percent (20-of-58) shooting. The Lady Tigers were 7-of-8 from the free-throw line, including a 4-of-4 effort by Chrissy Floyd.

Chattanooga was led by Bullock, who finished with 19 points and seven rebounds. Lewis and Miranda Warfield each added seven points for the Lady Mocs, who led for the first 15 minutes of the second half.

The largest lead for Chattanooga was 26-19 with 17 minutes to play.
