SALT LAKE CITY (Ticker) -- Forced west by the NCAA wrestling tournament, Iowa stayed alive in the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

The fourth-seeded Hawkeyes scored the first six points in overtime and pulled away for an 89-82 victory over 13th seed Oregon in a Midwest Region first-round game.

Randi Peterson's steal and jumper 22 seconds into the extra period put Iowa (21-9) ahead for good, 76-74. Beatrice Bullock made a basket and Cara Consuegra added a layup for a six-point cushion.

Oregon (17-12) got back within 80-78 on a free throw by Jenny Mowe with 2:22 remaining. But the Hawkeyes answered with a 9-2 run as Leah Magner went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Magner made four 3-pointers and scored 25 points for Iowa, which has won seven straight games and will face Utah or Fairfield in Monday's second round. Peterson added 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals and Consuegra collected 13 points and seven assists.

Angelina Wolvert had 18 points and 13 rebounds and Mowe added 17 and 12 for the Ducks, who had a four-game winning streak snapped. Oregon fell to 4-11 in the NCAA Tournament and has never gotten past the second round.
