NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Caton Hill had 16 points and 10 rebounds as Oklahoma narrowly avoided being on the wrong side of the worst upset in the NCAA Tournament thus far with a 70-64 victory over Oral Roberts in the first round.

Hill helped Oklahoma to a 35-24 edge on the boards and was huge in the second half as the Sonners held off a surging Oral Roberts' squad.

Stacey Dales had 16 points and four asists while Rosalind Ross collected 14 points, six rebounds and three assists in a big performance off the bench for the Sooners, who have won 14 straight meetings with the Golden Eagles.

Oklahoma (27-5) won despite shooting just 44 percent (13-of-29) from the floor and 47 percent (9-of-19) from the line in the second half.

Oral Roberts (20-11) was led by Cori Willitson, who scored 19 points. Willitson made 6-of-8 shots from the floor and 4-of-4 from 3-point range to spark an offense that shot 54 percent (13-of-24) in the second half.

Krista Ragan had 14 points and five assists and Jennette Bolovinos scored 11 points for the Golden Eagles. Kristin Brady added 10 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the arc and collected five of Oral Roberts' 11 steals.
