STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Swin Cash had 17 points and 15 rebounds as top-ranked Connecticut pounded Miami, 96-50, in Big East Conference action. Asjha Jones added 17 points for Connecticut (18-0, 4-0 Big East), which jumped to a 47-19 lead at halftime and cruised to its third road win in eight days. The Huskies dominated every facet of the game, outscoring the Hurricanes, 56-28, in the paint; 35-17, off turnovers; and 24-6, on the break while holding a 53-32 rebounding advantage. Miami shot just 26 percent (9-of-35) from the field in the first half and 30 percent (22-of-73) for the game, including 2-of-16 from 3-point range. It committed 24 turnovers. Chanivia Broussard scored 18 points for the Hurricanes (9-6, 2-3), who lost for the fourth time in five games. Connecticut had six players in double figures, including Ashley Battle, who had 11 points and 13 rebounds. |
