SYRACUSE, New York (Ticker) -- Shannon Perry recorded 16 points and 12 rebounds as Syracuse handed No. 17 Virginia Tech its first Big East Conference defeat of the season with a 75-59 victory.

Perry helped the Orangewomen (11-6, 4-1 Big East) dominate on the boards with a 47-25 rebounding edge.

Jamie James scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures for Syracuse. She hit a 3-pointer to cap an 8-0 run that gave the Orangemen a 39-32 lead with 16:17 remaining.

Virginia Tech (14-3, 6-1) closed within 39-37 before Syracuse steadily pulled away to snap the Hokies' 11-game winning streak. The final score represented the biggest lead for the Orangemen.

Julie McBride also scored 16 points for Syracuse, while Leaf Newman added 10.

The Orangewomen shot 53 percent (26-of-49) from the field while holding the Hokies to 36.5 percent (23-of-63).

Sarah Hicks scored 18 points and Ieva Kublina contributed 17 for Virginia Tech, which was held to its second-lowest output of the season.
