PALO ALTO, California (Ticker) -- Lindsay Yamasaki scored 23 of her 27 points in a scintillating first half, leading No. 3 Stanford to its 12th straight victory, a 62-48 Pac-10 Conference triumph over Arizona State. Yamasaki scored 18 of Stanford's last 19 points of the first half, widening a 16-14 edge to 35-23 at intermission. In the first half, she shot 9-of-13 from the field with two 3-pointers. That was enough for the Cardinal (20-1, 10-0 Pac-10), who led by as many as 21 points in the second half. Yamasaki made 10-of-16 shots before fouling out. Nicole Powell scored 13 points and T'Nae Thiel pulled down 10 rebounds for Stanford, which shot 47 percent (22-of-47) and limited Arizona State to 26 percent (15-of-57). Stanford has not lost since a 68-62 home setback to Tennessee on December 16. Betsy Boardman scored 15 points and was the only player in double figures for the Sun Devils (16-6, 7-4), who had won five of their last six games. Amanda Levens made just 1-of-14 shots. |
