BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter awarded All-Conference honors as a junior and senior. Numbers last year included 42/5/10 when he also averaged 24.8 yards on 37 kick returns. Junior-year numbers included 57/5/11.

POSITIVES: Undersized cornerback who showed a lot of indecision and inconsistency last season. Effective facing the action, quickly locates the ball in the air, and has a nice break to the play. Possesses a burst of closing speed, works well with safeties, and fluid moving about the field. Displays good route recognition and a feisty defensive back.

NEGATIVES: Lacks height, loses out in battles, and not physically strong. Slow reacting to receivers. moves off the line. Does not possess the second gear.

ANALYSIS: After a terrific junior season, Wheatley turned in an uninspired 2007 campaign. His size is a limiting factor, yet he could be used as a nickel back in a zone system.
