SI Grade
3.26
Position:
CB
Class:
Sr
School: Conference: Ht., Wt.:
6-2, 185
40 Time:
4.42

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter who began his college career at Fordham. Awarded all-Conference and all-America honors as a senior after totaling 56 tackles and seven interceptions. Also averaged 28.6 yards on 17 kick returns, bringing two back for touchdowns. Junior totals included 38 tackles and four interceptions.

POSITIVES: Opportunistic defensive back with outstanding size/speed numbers. Engages opponents at the line, fluid turning his hips in transition and displays solid footwork moving in reverse. Quick in his head picking up assignments, reads receivers eyes then positions himself to defend the throw. Displays a sense of anticipation, gets vertical and possesses outstanding hands for the interception. Effective backed off the line scrimmage and shows a solid break to the throw. Patient return specialist who uses his blocks and picks his way through the open spots on the field. Occasionally lined up at receiver and displays good eye/hand coordination.

NEGATIVES: Lacks quickness, more of a loping runner and does not show great recovery speed.

ANALYSIS: Williams is an outstanding small school prospect and a defensive back flying under the radar. He offers potential as either a zone or man cornerback and could get consideration at safety. His skills as a return specialist are added value and Williams could find a roster spot next season as a team.s eight defensive back.

PROJECTION: Middle Seventh Round
