Record: 7-4, 6-2 Pac-10
Coach: Rick Neuheisel, first year (40-18 overall)
Top Off. Player: QB Marques Tuiasosopo (2,015 passing yards, 493 rushing)
Top Def. Player: S Hakim Akbar (69 tackles)
Season Summary:
The Huskies started 0-2 but started to turn things around with a tough win over Colorado, Neuheisel's former employer. From there, UW, especially Tuiasosopo, stepped it up in Pac-10 play. The Huskies beat eventual champ Stanford and faltered only against Arizona State until a surprising loss to UCLA on Nov. 13 that ended their Rose Bowl hopes.

Record: 10-1, 7-1 Big 12
Coach: Bill Snyder, 11th year (87-40-1)
Top Off. Player: WR Quincy Morgan (1,007 yards, 24 per catch)
Top Def. Player: LB Mark Simoneau (91 tackles, 17 for loss)
Season Summary:
For a second straight year, K-State dominated the Big 12 -- that is, except for Nebraska. That one, a 41-15 blip the second-to-last week of the season, was the difference between BCS and San Diego. The Wildcats won with a dominating defense and great special teams, which include punt-return extraordinare David Allen. Quarterback Jonathan Beasley struggled at times but got the job done, and RB Joe Hall emerged as another offensive threat.
