| In his two years of college football, Jamar Fletcher has defended prolific receivers the likes of UCLA's Danny Farmer, Michigan's Tai Streets and Purdue's Chris Daniels. His latest challenge this New Year's Day may also be his smallest: Stanford 5-foot-7 All-American Troy Walters.
But if anyone has proven the adage "size doesn't matter," it's Fletcher. Despite the fact most star college football receivers tower him by more than half a foot, Fletcher and teammate Mike Echols are a major reason UW has one of the nation's Top 20 pass defenses. In two seasons, Fletcher has deflected or intercepted 29 passes.
He's also no stranger to sunny Pasadena. In last year's game, Fletcher and the Badgers secondary withstood a 340-yard passing day by Cade McNown long enough for Fletcher to jump in front of a fourth-quarter throw and return it 46 yards for the back-breaking touchdown. It was one of five such touchdown returns for his career.
