Wisconsin's record-setting running back wins Heisman in a breeze

A season that began in sour fashion ended with the sweetest of prizes for Ron Dayne, who accepted the 1999 Heisman Trophy as college football's most outstanding player Saturday at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York. Dayne, who ended his career as college football's all-time leading rusher, averaged 203.5 yards over the final four games of his senior season after a slow start, finishing with 1,834 yards and 19 TDs.
