He is a dominating player on the small college level and he has all the tools to be a starting NFL TE. He is an excellent athlete for his size and good enough to also be a college basketball player. He is very fluid in his movement and has good agility and explosiveness for a big man. For most of his career, he has concentrated on blocking and has dominated in that phase of his game. He is very physical, plays with leverage and can sustain blocks. As a senior, he was used more in the passing game and shows good hands and concentration to the ball on intermediate and short to intermediate routes. He is a load to bring down after the catch and his receiving skills should dramatically improve with NFL coaching. The only question will be his ability to make the jump to the NFL as the coverage will be much better on the next level. He did show some promise at the Senior Bowl when he faced better competition, but he did not have a dominating week. The reports on his character and intangibles are good and if he continues to have good individual workouts, he could be the first TE that comes off the board.
