Positives: Strong, sure handed receiver who's displayed terrific development in his game the past two years. Comes across the middle of the field, gets up in a crowd and makes the difficult catch with defenders draped on him. Sturdy wide out that takes a heavy hit yet holds onto the ball. Nicely makes the reception in stride, adjusting to the errant throw and looking the pass in. Consistently extends his hands and makes the reception away from his frame. Fights hard to separate from defenders, comes back to the ball out of breaks and keeps the play in bounds running after the catch, trying to pick up positive yardage.

Negatives: Lacks a quick release off the line of scrimmage into routes. Marginal speed and cannot run to the long throw. Occasionally takes his eyes off the ball before he's made the reception.

Analysis: Matthews has been a consistent player since arriving at Nevada in 2010 and possesses the skills necessary to make an NFL roster as a fourth receiver.
