PLAYERS
Biography: Four-year starter awarded all-conference honors after his senior and junior campaigns. Totals last year included 55 tackles/13.5
tackles for loss/8.5 sacks. Sat on the sidelines in 2010 with a foot injury. Production from 2009 included 63/10.5/6.5.
Positives: Productive, hardworking defensive lineman with a variety of skills. Plays with good balance and leverage and is tough to knock off his feet. Quick off the snap, immediately changes direction and displays the ability to make plays down the line of scrimmage in pursuit of the action. Effectively uses his hands, keeps his feet moving on contact and gets a lot of momentum going up the field. Chases the action hard and also effectively diagnoses plays. Displays a burst of speed in his game. Negatives: Struggles getting off blocks and gets handled at the point of attack. Cannot sustain his speed and possesses more of a short burst. Analysis: Solomon was the playmaking defender that opponents could not stop in college. He'll be a situational lineman who can line up as a two-gap end, three-technique tackle or even across right tackle on occasion. He comes with a special teams mentality and could have a productive career as a backup in the NFL. Projection: 7th |
