CLEVELAND (Ticker) -- When the going got tough for the Carolina Panthers, Nick Goings took over.

Goings ran for two one-yard touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lead the Panthers to a 20-19 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Trailing, 19-6, the Panthers traveled 38 yards on seven plays to draw within six points with less than nine minutes remaining, with Goings culminating the drive with his first score.

With six minutes to go, Goings carried six times for 19 yards on a 12-play drive, finishing with a one-yard touchdown with 39 seconds left to put Carolina ahead, 20-19.

Goings finished with 31 yards on 11 carries for the Panthers, who host the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener next Sunday. Randy Fasani was 8-of-17 for 124 yards while Rodney Peete completed 4-of-11 passes for 36 yards.

Carl Fair led Cleveland's rushing attack with 22 yards on six carries while first-round pick William Green rushed four times for 20 yards.

Starting in place of Tim Couch, who has a sore right elbow, Kelly Holcomb went 8-of-9 for 90 yards for the Browns, who open the season at home against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Phil Dawson kicked four field goals for Cleveland while defensive back Anthony Henry picked off Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke and ran 43 yards for the Browns' lone touchdown.
