Doug Flutie finished 18-of-39 for 228 yards, and ran in the game-winning touchdown AP

Want a trend to point to from Week 7? The home team won all 12 games entering Monday night's Jets-Patriots matchup.

This explains why the Lions were able to upset the Packers, why Doug Flutie was able to rally the Bills, why Trent Dilfer was able to sneak away with a victory in Tampa Bay, why the 49ers were able to overcome a 21-point deficit to nip the Colts at 3Com Park and so on.

Home teams were 48-34 entering the week, with the AFC West leading the way with an 11-3 home mark, backed by 3-0 records from Denver and Kansas City. Oddly enough, all but two teams have home wins this season -- the league's two winless teams, Carolina and Washington -- and the good news for both is that their next games are both at home.

Week 7 NFL Capsules

Lions 27 (2-4)
Packers 20 (4-2)

Stats and re cap
Vikings 41 (6-0)
Redskins 7 (0-7)
Cris Carter needs one more touchdown to move into a tie for first on the Vikings' all-time TD list. The Vikings got to Redskins QB Gus Frerotte for five sacks, holding him to only 10 completions in 26 attempts. Vikes QB Randall Cunningham now has 12 touchdowns without an interception in 132 passes thrown this season.
Stats and recap
Oilers 44 (3-3)
Bengals 14 (2-4)

The Oilers scored on all four first-half possessions, on drives of 9, 15, 13 and five plays for a 20-0 halftime lead. McNair quietly completed 16 of 21 passes for 277 yards with no interceptions in leading the Oilers to a home win.
Stats and recap
Giants 34 (3-4)
Cardinals 7 (3-4)

Stats and rec ap
Bills 17 (3-3)
Jaguars 16 (5-1)

A crowd of 77,635 rallied behind Buffalo and Flutie, whose team never led until the final 13 seconds of the game. Flutie took a busted play and ran in for the winning touchdown -- his first in the NFL in 10 years.
Stats and recap
Steelers 16(4-2)
Ravens 6 (2-4)
Kordell Stewart threw for 196 yards, which is a season-high, but less than he threw for in 8 games last year. Panthers 13 (0-6)
Kevin Greene picked up his league-high 11th sack, putting him halfway to Mark Gastineau's NFL record of 22. Bucs QB Trent Dilfer drove the team 57 yards in 1:08 and threw a 29-yard TD to rally his team back to .500.
Stats and recap
49ers 34 (5-1)
Colts 31 (1-6)
49ers QB Steve Young rushed for two touchdowns to tie Fran Tarkenton for most rushing TDs by a quarterback (40). St ats and re cap

Rams 0 (2-4)

St ats and recap
