Minnesota's Mitch Berger (17) tries to run down Ravens rookie Patrick Johnson (85) as he returns a kickoff for a touchdown Sunday AP

On behalf of the '72 Dolphins, Week 15 offered many happy returns.

The legacy of Week 15 will be that the Broncos finally lost. That's what you'll remember. That a 13-0 Denver team lost to a Giants team that had scored seven or fewer points five times this season doesn't even scratch the surface of how strange a weekend this was.

Seven teams could have clinched playoff berths, but only one did. Most were too busy scoring touchdowns on returns -- there were 15 non-offensive touchdowns Sunday. Among the highlights:

  • The Ravens and Vikings set an NFL record for kickoffs in a game with three -- in the first quarter alone.
  • The Bills and Raiders combined for three return touchdowns in a 14-minute span -- two defensive scores for Buffalo and a punt return for Oakland.
  • The Chargers and Seahawks traded defensive scores in a four-minute span, and Seattle added a second defensive TD later, setting an NFL record with its 12th return touchdown of the season.
  • The Bears had a defensive touchdown and a kickoff returned for a touchdown and still lost. The Saints had two defensive touchdowns and lost.
