As nice as staying in a hotel

How was your trip to Sydney? Very, very long. Our travel agent booked us connecting through Kualu Lumpur rather than a direct flight from L.A. to Sydney. With layovers and two connections (one in Tapei and one in KL) that made our travel time twice as long. What did you do on the plane to stay occupied? Luckily our plane was equipped with a personal screen and entertainment center build into every seat. I watched a lot of movies, some TV programs, the news and played Nintendo games too. Where are you staying? What is your room like? The Olympic village is really nice. We are in a house like apartment, which has three rooms on the ground level and three more upstairs and a pretty big living room. The bathrooms are nicely sized and everything is brand new and has never been used before -- it is pretty much as nice as staying in a hotel if not better. Have you had a chance to get in the pool yet? Not yet, I may get in this afternoon to loosen up and get rid of some of the kinks. What have you seen and done in the Athletes' Village? Well, right now I am in the IBM Surf Shack, which is filled with top of the line amazing computers. I just wish that there were more Surf Shacks like this one. The dining hall is huge! Filled with anything you could possibly think of, and it is open 24 hours. Have you seen your brother yet? Yes, I met up with him early in the trip in Miami and we traveled together since then. Have you had a chance to see or talk to any of your Georgia teammates or (Georgia coach) Jack Bauerle? Not yet. I believe they are still in Brisbane at a training camp. They move into the village any day now I guess. What's been the focus in your training? How are you going to prepare for your race? Well, first I will get used to the pool on the first day -- the lighting, temperature, etc. Then I will pretty much repeat my race routine over and over each day and see what works best. (Everything but the actual race of course.) -- Chris
