University of South Carolina track and field coach Curtis Frye will be coaching five U.S. athletes at the Sydney Olympics, including defending 110-meter hurdles gold medalist Allen Johnson. In 1999 Frye was named the National Men's Indoor Coach of the Year and the National Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year. In his 26-year career, Frye has coached 38 NCAA champions. Check back in with Frye on CNNSI.com throughout the Olympic Games.

Silvania Waters, Australia

We have arrived!

I slept the whole flight -- it went pretty quick for me because I was asleep. I like to fly. I am staying with a family in Silvania Waters. We are out on the water. The house is so gorgeous. It's a beautiful country. I have never been to Australia. The people are incredible -- they are so nice.

The taxi driver had a daughter who went to Clemson -- she was just there for a year. They have been helping me out. They are so nice. Funny how you go around the world and run into someone from your own state.

The transportation is interesting. I am not a train and bus person so I have to get use to this. Everyone's on Holiday right now so the trains are full of teenagers going to party's. But they are nice -- they are just like Americans. It's fun. I know how to ride the trains now. I feel like I have accomplished something without asking a lot of questions. But I like just getting into my car and going. It's quite an awakening to get here and get around. It seems to be unsettling.

Tonight is the Opening Ceremonies. I haven't decided whether or not I will go down there. The athletes have to be there at 3 p.m. So we will practice this morning from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. We are practicing at P-1 -- Practice Track No. 1. It's right beside the stadium. It's a beautiful place. It's better than most competition facilities -- it has seating and lighting. It's really nice. We will practice this morning with Melissa Morrison, Monique Hennagan, Miki Barber and Terrence Trammell.

Today we will shake out and do some drills. The quarter-milers will run 3 250m runs. Melissa will go over the first four hurdles three times. Terrence will run four 100m build-ups, take a break and then do it again.

We won't compete for a week. It's been a while since we have worked out together so now we can put together two or three work-outs and be ready to go by the time the athletes compete. I have gotten some credentials to get into the practice facility, now we need to work on some tickets to get into the Olympic Stadium. I have to get into the meet, so I will have to buy some tickets.

I haven't seen our other athletes yet from Jamaica, the Bahamas or Canada yet.

I don't think the weather will have an effect on the track and field, except for the wind. There is some wind and they predict this will be a windy season. They are having a real mild spring. It cools off at night but by 10 am it's 65 degrees. Mostly 70s during the day.

We are working to help alleviate the stress with the athletes and their parents and friends being here. They are good for them and are so excited.

To C.J. Frye and the Gamecock football team -- when I left on Sunday you were 2-0. I hope you are still undefeated when I get back on Oct. 5. That's a win over Eastern Michigan, Mississippi State and at Alabama. Go Cocks!

Looking forward to getting out to practice. I am going to cook some breakfast and then get out there for the day

Go 'Cocks.

-- Curtis
