Olympic champion cyclist Kathy Watt loses appeal against exclusion
SYDNEY, Aug 25 (AFP) - Dual Olympic medallist Kathy Watt lost her appeal Friday in the Court of Arbitration for Sport against her omission from Australia's Olympic team. Cycling Australia added that endurance rider Brent Dawson had also had an appeal dismissed. Watt won Australia's first women's Olympic cycling medals when she won gold in the individual road race and silver in the 3,000m Individual Pursuit track race at Barcelona in 1992. She won an 11th-hour bid four years ago to be able to ride at Atlanta. Alayna Burns, 20, was selected to ride the individual pursuit and points race. She joins sprinters Michelle Ferris and Lyndelle Higginson to make up the Australian women's track team.
