SYDNEY, Aug 25 (AFP) - Leeds United's injured Australian international Harry Kewell has pulled out of the Sydney Olympics, officials said Friday.

The star forward has been battling an Achilles tendon injury which has not responded to treatment.

Soccer Australia has to submit its Olympic squad names Friday and has decided not to name Kewell.

Olyroo coach Raul Blanco said at training earlier this week that Kewell meant as much to the Australian Olympic campaign as Maradona did to Argentina at his peak.
