Olympic dream over for injured Breuer
SYDNEY, Sept 9 (AFP) - Germany's 400m specialist Grit Breuer has been forced to pull out of the Sydney Olympics because of back problems, the German sports agency SID reported Saturday. "I'm very disappointed to pull out," said the 28-year-old Breuer, who began to experience problems last Monday and may have to undergo surgery. "According to the results of the initial tests I have to undergo twelve weeks treatment. After that we'll see," added the veteran of three previous Olympic Games. Her absence, following that of German marathon runner Katrin Dorre-Heining on Friday, will reduce the medal chances for the 4x400m relay team with which she won bronze in last year's World Championships in Seville, Spain.
