European sprint champion Arron in doubt
SYDNEY, Sept 19 (AFP) - A sore throat is threatening the chances of European 100m sprint champion Christine Arron of France starting in the women's sprint beginning Friday. Arron, who is not at the Olympic village, is being treated with antibiotics, and a decision on whether she starts will be made on race day, French team doctor Didier Polin said Tuesday. "Christine has been confined to bed and she has been under antibiotics since Monday evening," said Polin. "We will see how the illness develops and will take a decision on the day of the race." Guadeloupe-born 27-year-old Arron, who is due to begin the 100m heats on Friday, has been plagued with health worries after contracting bronchitis in August when she returned from a training camp in Corsica.
