Czech cyclist Jan Hruska out of Sydney Olympics for doping

PRAGUE, Sept 21 (AFP) - Czech cyclist Jan Hruska will not take part in the Sydney Olympics after testing positive for the steroid nandrolone during the Tour of Spain, the Czech news agency CTK reported Thursday.

The 25-year-old rider for the Spanish Vitalicio team was due to take part in the road race and the individual time trial in Sydney, but he returned a positive result after a September 13 doping test and will now not travel to Sydney.

Hruska, who finished 14th in the last Giro d'Italia was in Madrid on Wednesday to attend a second test analysis, the results of which were due later Thursday.

If the new analysis also returns a positive result, Hruska, the Czech national champion, risks a two-year suspension, according to the Czech Cycling Federation.
