Greening to return home with injury
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) -- English hooker Phil Greening will leave the British and Irish Lions touring rugby union squad because of a persistent knee injury, team officials said Friday. Lions tour manager Donal Lenihan confirmed Greening would leave the squad when it arrived in Sydney on Sunday after doctors said he could not play for at least two weeks. Scottish hooker Gordon Bulloch had already been called into the touring party and Lenihan said another replacement would not be needed. Greening will only be called back on to the tour if one of the three hookers was injured in the next two weeks. The Lions have been forced to make one change for Saturday night's match with Queensland at Ballymore after Welsh backrower Scott Quinnell was ruled out with fluid on the knee. Martin Corry has been promoted to the starting team with Scotland's Scott Murray named on the bench.
