Catt, Dallaglio back with Lions Updated: Sunday June 17, 2001 9:33 AM SYDNEY, Australia (Reuters) -- England's Lawrence Dallaglio and Mike Catt have finally been cleared to make their first appearances for the British and Irish Lions in Australia. The pair missed the tourists' first three games because of injury but were named Sunday for the team to play Australia 'A' in Gosford on Tuesday. Backrower Dallaglio almost missed the tour because of a knee injury while inside center Catt has been hampered by a calf strain but Lions coach Graham Henry was running out of time to play them with the first test against the Wallabies fewer than two weeks away. Catt faces another fitness test Monday but Henry said Dallaglio was ready to push his claims for a place in the test team. "He's done everything humanly possible to be 100 percent for this game and knowing the person he is I know he'll play well," Henry said. Dallaglio said he was looking forward to playing but would face a tough battle getting into the test side because of the good form of the other backrowers. "I always knew from the outset that I wouldn't be right for the first two games," the former England captain said. "I felt really confident when we left that I'd be fit pretty early on in the tour. "I don't think I would have come on tour of that wasn't the case." Welsh No. 8 Scott Quinnell was also included in the team after pulling out of last Saturday's match against Queensland in Brisbane with fluid on the knee. Although Henry won't name his test team until next week, only a handful of players chosen to play Australia A have a realistic chance of making the test side. The Australia A side contains 14 past and present Wallabies, including six members of the current national squad.
