DALLAS (Ticker) -- Ariel Graziani scored both goals in regulation, then got the game-winner in the shootout as the Dallas Burn forced a decisive third game in the Western Conference finals with a 3-2 triumph over the Los Angeles Galaxy. Graziani twice erased deficits for the Burn, scoring in the 33rd minute on a header to forge a 1-1 tie and tallying in the 74th minute to force the tiebreaker. He neatly played a tricky back heel past goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, who could not prevent the ball from trickling over the goal line as Graziani bagged his fifth playoff goal. Graziani beat Hartman again in the seventh shootout round, after Oscar Pareja and Jorge Rodriguez scored to keep the Burn alive. Dallas was only 3-6 in shootouts during the season but staved off elimination thanks to strong goalkeeping from Matt Jordan. Los Angeles had not been involved in a shootout since May. Carlos Hermosillo opened the scoring 12 minutes into the first half, heading Cobi Jones' pass into the back of the net for his first postseason goal. The Galaxy regained the lead when midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos sent a perfect pass to Hermosillo in the 55th minute. Hermosillo lobbed a shot over the head of Jordan, who was caught off his line. The decisive third game will be played Thursday at the Rose Bowl. The winner faces Columbus or D.C. United in MLS Cup '99 on November 21 in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
