The Red Wings accomplished a rare NHL feat by going 9-0-2 in February.

Their unbeaten record for the full calendar month is only the sixth in the league since 1984 (see chart, below). It is also the first in the franchise's 75-year history.

Detroit's unbeaten streak started with a 3-2 victory at Columbus on Jan. 31. The 12-game tear is the team's longest since 1995-96, when it went 12-0-1 from March 3-31. The franchise's longest unbeaten streak is 15, set in 1952-53.

The Red Wings, who have taken a one-point lead over the Blues in the Central Division, have used goaltending and defense to get hot. Detroit outscored its 11 February opponents 42-24 as goalies Chris Osgood (7-0-2, 2.42 GAA) and Manny Legace (2-0, 0.61) have played their best hockey of the season.

Month Madness
The Red Wings are the sixth team since 1984 to go unbeaten for a full calendar month (minimum nine games):
