0-7 -- Southern Cal and Utah's combined records against bowl teams this season before meeting in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 25. The Utes, who were 0-3 against bowl teams, won 10-6.
.714 -- Southern Cal's winning percentage (20-8) in the Rose Bowl. The Trojans are 5-7 in other bowl games.
1 -- Schools in Division I history to have a 4,000-yard passer (David Carr), two 1,000-yard receivers (Rodney Wright, Bernard Berrian) and a 1,000-yard rusher (Paris Gaines) in the same season -- the Fresno State Bulldogs, who will face Michigan State in the Silicon Valley Classic.
2 -- Trips to the Rose Bowl made by Nebraska. The Cornhuskers also played in the 1941 Rose Bowl, the first bowl game in school history, losing to Stanford 21-13.
3 -- Teams with losing records to appear in bowl games, including 5-6 North Texas before its 45-14 New Orleans Bowl loss to Colorado State. William & Mary, which was coached to a 5-6 record by Lou Holtz in 1970, lost to Toledo in the Tangerine Bowl. In 1963, a 4-6 SMU team lost to Oregon in the Sun Bowl.
4 -- Consecutive bowl victories by LSU heading into the Sugar Bowl against Illinois. The Tigers, who also won four in a row from 1965-68, have never won five consecutive bowls.
5 -- Schools that have been to bowl games in each of the past 11 seasons: Florida, Nebraska, Florida State, Tennessee and Michigan.
6 -- Times that the AP poll's second- and third-ranked teams have met in a bowl game, including the 2002 Fiesta Bowl between No. 2 Oregon and No. 3 Colorado. The No. 3 team has won three of the five previous meetings. No. 2 Nebraska won the most recent matchup, 42-17, against No. 3 Tennessee in the 1998 Orange Bowl.
6-2 -- Tennesee's and Colorado's record against bowl teams this season. North Carolina (4-4) and Kansas State (3-5) were the only other bowl-eligible schools to play eight games against bowl participants.
6-5 -- The record of 11 teams participating in bowls this season, including Alabama, TCU, Iowa, Kansas State, Purdue, Clemson, Michigan State, Colorado State, East Carolina, Pittsburgh and N.C. State.
7 -- ACC victories by Maryland this season, one more than its combined total of the past three seasons. The Terps won the conference to earn an Orange Bowl bid, its first bowl berth since 1990.
8.8 -- The average margin of victory in the Peach Bowl's 33 games played, making it the most competitive bowl game. Fifteen of the past 17 games have been decided by seven points or fewer with 13 of those decided by four points or fewer.
10-1 -- Illinois' record heading into the Sugar Bowl against LSU. The Illini have never had an 11-win season.
11 -- Consecutive January bowl appearances by Florida State, the longest active streak in the nation. Florida is second with nine. Nebraska owns the all-time record with 17 from 1981-97.
12 -- Schools that averaged more passing yards per game than the combined averages of Insight.com Bowl teams Syracuse (154.8) and Kansas State (136.1). Florida led the nation with a 405.2-yard average, followed by Hawaii's 381.3.
17-4-1 -- Michigan's all-time record against SEC schools, including 7-2 in bowl games.
18 -- Years since Maryland's last bowl defeat, a 30-23 loss to Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl. The Terps have played in only three bowl games since, the last a 1990 Independence Bowl victory.
21 -- Consecutive losses by Boston College to ranked opponents. The Eagles, who last beat a ranked team on Sept. 7, 1995, play No. 16 Georgia in the Music City Bowl.
30.3 -- Percentage of Arkansas' bowl trips that have been to the Cotton Bowl (10 of 33), including this year's game against Oklahoma. This is the Sooners' first Cotton Bowl trip.
51 -- Bowl appearances by Independence Bowl-participant Alabama, the most of any school. Tennessee is second with 42 and Texas third with 41.
576 -- The record for passing yards in a bowl game, set by BYU's Ty Detmer in the 1989 Holiday Bowl and tied by Marshall's Byron Leftwich in this year's GMAC Bowl, a 64-61 victory against East Carolina on Dec. 19.
2,287 -- Distance, in miles, from Clemson to the Boise, Idaho, where the Tigers will play in the Humanitarian bowl. Clemson's opponent, Louisiana Tech, is about 1,500 miles away from Boise.
47,162 -- Miami's average attendance at home this season. The Hurricanes already have sold out their allotment of 20,700 tickets for the Rose Bowl, easily the most in school in history.
