PARIS (Reuters) -- French Open boss Patrice Clerc said on Tuesday he would step down in a few months after 20 years with the French tennis federation.

Clerc, who was also in charge of the Paris indoor Open, said he had accepted an offer from the Amaury publishing group to chair their "sports events" branch.

The Amaury group, owners of the sports daily l'Equipe, are also the organizers of the cycling Tour de France and the Paris-Dakar rally.

Clerc did not say whether he was taking over from current Tour de France president Jean-Claude Killy.

The former skiing Olympic champion said earlier this year he would quit at the end of the year.
